Happy New Year has been a huge grosser at the Box Office as it has managed to collect about Rs 44.97 crore nett on Friday (October 24, 2014), Rs 31.53 crore nett on Saturday (October 25, 2014) and Rs 32.36 crore nett on Sunday (October 26, 2014), thus collecting about Rs 108.86 crore nett in it’s opening weekend.
One of the biggest releases of 2014, Happy New Year released on Friday during one of the biggest holiday period of the year which is post Diwali. Film has huge pre release buzz and it was expected to shatter few records in first three day itself.
Inspite of opening to bad reviews, the film has been a huge money spinner. Happy New Year as appreciated by the masses and that’s what matters at the end of it. The film is expected to shatter a lot of records and create new ones.
With the given figure, Shah Rukh Khan becomes the first superstar to enter the 100 crore club in three days, leaving Aamir Khan and Salman Khan behind him.
What surprising is that fact that audiences has posted both positive and negative comments about the movie. Interestingly, the negative comments seemed to be genuine and they hardly bear any bitter feeling, which has taken many observers in Bollywood by surprise.
Happy New Year that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff will get a two week clean run as next week (October 31, 2014) will see the release of Roar – Tigers of Sunderbans, Fireflies and Super Nani; non of which can prove to be a threat to Happy New Year.
It’s only on November 07, 2014 that Happy New Year may have some competition from Akshay Kumar starrer The Shaukeens; though the chances look bleak.
