The sessions court in Nampllay has ordered that Shweta Basu to be released from the rescue home, where she was taken after her arrest by the Hyderabad police . According to reports, Shweta Basu has been allowed to live with her mother after a prostitution racket was busted.
Initially, a lower court had ordered that Shweta Basu to stay in a rescue home for six months, however her mother had challenged the order in sessions court and finally got her daughter out.
The court allowed the revision plea filed by the her mother challenging a lower court’s order that had on September 30, 2014 directed that she should continue to stay at the rescue home for six months for rehabilitation.
The sessions court called for a fresh report from the rescue home which stated that it had no objection to her release, defence lawyer Pradeep Kumar said. Following which, the court agreed to hand over her custody to her mother.
Shweta Basu’s mother had, in her application, contended that her daughter had been framed and keeping her at the rescue home was a violation of her fundamental rights.
Shweta Basu was arrested last month by the Hyderabad police on charges of prostitution. Reportedly, she was caught in a compromising position when the cops raided a famous hotel at the upscale Banjara Hills in the city.
Shweta Basu had issued a statement soon after her arrest. “I have made wrong choices in my career, and I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless, and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act. I’m not the only one who faced this problem, and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase.”
Shweta Basu rose to fame as a child star with her film Makdee that won her a National Award, she also played the role of Sreyas Talpade’s sister in the film Iqbal.
Prior to entering Bollywood, Shweta has been part of television soaps like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Karishma Kaa Karishma.
