Endearing his fans for more than four decades, Amitabh Bachchan has emerged as a significant name in Indian cinema.
Born in Allahabad in 1942 to the renowned Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Punjabi Sikh mother Teji Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan made a mark for himself in Indian cinema.
His road to stardom was not an easy one. Amitabh Bachchan’s struggle through his initial days is well known. Through the years, as he unraveled different skills apart from acting, his stardom has only notched higher.
Amitabh Bachchan entered the entertainment industry as a voice artist for a National Award winning movie Bhuvan Shome in the year 1969 and went on to debut as an actor in Saat Hindustani in the same year.
Post this followed a series of flops and then Anand happened. His real worth as an actor was recognised in Anand, in which he played the role of a cynical doctor to Rajesh Khanna. Since then, there has been no looking back for Amitabh Bachchan.
The film that established him as super star was Prakesh Mehra’s Zanjeer and as they say the rest his history.
Zanjeer was followed by films like Sholay, Deewar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, Kala Patthar, Shaan, Naseeb, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Lawaaris and many more.
Apart from his versatility as an actor, his fans have also been lucky enough to witness his other sides like that of a singer, poet, anchor and a performer.
