The fourth and final episode of Y Films’ Man’s World hits you like a wrecking ball. Kiran (Gaurav Pandey) is forcefully married off to a girl he barely knows. He now lives in a world that is utterly unfair to men. He expresses his sorrow with his dead-with-depression eyes that speak a million words. The episode ends with a deep and touching message that no matter what world you live in, every gender deserves equal respect.
The need for gender equality could not be portrayed better. It is commendable how writer-director Vikram Gupta has paid heed to almost all of the struggles that women in India face. He has presented a perfect metaphor of the phrase ‘What it is like to be in one’s shoes’ through the role-reversal of the genders.
This online series by Y Films is probably one of the best social campaigns. This episode also features Parineeti Chopra, Anupama Chopra and RJ Malishka. Towards the end of the episode, we see an interview where Anupama Chopra is asked “Is a world like this possible?” to which she says, “Of course it’s possible. But the question is, first, can you imagine a world like this?” sums up the message beautifully.
The episode is sure to make you think, and if you are sensitive, it is sure to get you teary-eyed. It leaves the viewers wishing that the series never came to an end. Kudos to the cast and crew of Y Films’ Man’s World.
