The film has cemented the fact that it’s with great content that one can achieve success. Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the sequel to the 2011 hit Tanu Weds Manu, has registered one of the highest opening weekend collections this year.
The film managed to collect Rs 08.85 crore nett on Friday (May 22, 2105), Rs 13.20 crore nett on Saturday (May 23, 2015), on Sunday (May 24, 2015) the film had a further jump in it’s collections and managed to collect Rs 16.10 crore nett, Rs 08.90 crore nett was the collection on Monday (May 25, 2015), on Tuesday (May 26, 2015) it collected Rs 08.20 crore nett, Rs 07.70 crore nett was the collection on Wednesday (May 27, 2015) and on Thursday (May 28, 2015) the film collected Rs 07.07 crore nett; making it a total of Rs 70.02 crore nett at the end of it’s first week, which is fabulous.
For Aanand L. Rai, this is his third hit in a row. He has had a dream run at the Box Office, starting with Tanu Weds Manu, followed it up with Raanjhanaa and now Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
The film, which not only opened to rave reviews from the audience and critics alike, but also opened with a big splash at the Box Office.
Looking at the way the film is performing at the Box Office, it’s apparent that it will hold strong and cumulate more numbers as it enters it’s second week today.
The success of the film also lies in the fact that it has managed to get good theatre occupancy and collections, not only on weekends but also on weekdays.
Now going by the footfalls and the buzz that the film has generated, this Kangana Ranaut, Jimmy Shergill and R. Madhavan starrer is set to enter the 100 crore club.
