Tanu Weds Manu Returns was released across two thousand three hundred plus screens and with great reviews and positive word of mouth the film picked up.
The film opened to about sixty percent collections in the north and even in places like Mumbai, Gujarat and Rajasthan it opened to about fifty percent on day one. The trends were very encouraging and one expected the film to race ahead in the days to come.
The film managed to collect a total of about Rs 38.10 crore nett at the end of it’s first weekend with a break of Rs 08.85 crore nett on Friday (May 22, 2105), Rs 13.20 crore nett on Saturday (May 23, 2015) and Rs 16.10 crore nett on Sunday (May 24, 2015).
The rise in the collections on day two can be attributed to the positive word of mouth and the content of the film.
Not only are the critics mighty impressed with the treatment of the underlying concept of true love, but the audiences are flocking in numbers to watch the romantic comedy.
In it’s second week, starting May 29, 2015, Tanu Weds Manu Returns will clash with Welcome 2 Karachi, which is likely to eat into it’s audiences but will not have a huge impact on it’s Box Office collections.
Even if the business declines by fifty percent, the movie will collect over Rs 30 crore at the Box Office during it’s second week.
Meanwhile, Piku will not be able to join the 100 crore club at all as it’s business is on a decline.
With films like Welcome 2 Karachi (May 29, 2015) and Dil Dhadakne Do (June 05, 2015) lined up for release, Piku needs many more weeks to achieve the magical feat. Also with all these new releases it’s unlikely that it will be able to sustain in the theatres.
However, made on a budget of approximately Rs 30 crores, including print and publicity, Tanu Weds Manu Returns directed by Aanand L. Rai film is surely heading for a 100 crore mark.
After a slow start on day one, Friday 22, 2015, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has shown a phenomenal growth at the Box Office. Tanu Weds Manu Returns was ...3.0
