Kill Dil had everything right; from it’s star cast to the producers to the way the film was promoted. The only thing that the film did not have was a script and the result is in front of us.
Kill Dil was touted to be a huge draw at the ticket window, considering that fact that Govinda was making a comeback, but one look at it’s Box Office report and we can say that the film has been a disappointment at the end of it’s first weekend.
Being a Yash Raj film, Kill Dil opened in about two thousand six hundred screens and everyone was expecting the film to have a bumper opening but looks like their dreams have come crashing down.
Kill Dil has managed to collect Rs 06.53 crore nett on Friday (November 14, 2014), Rs 06.41 crore nett on Saturday (November 15, 2014) and Rs 07.35 crore nett on Sunday (November 16, 2014) making it to Rs 20.29 crore nett at the end of it’s first weekend.
Kill Dil could be Parineeti Chopra’s third flop; second in row after Daawat-e-Ishq. Ranveer Singh, however, won’t be affected much as Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela earned a Rs 100 crore at the Box Office and Bajirao Mastani can be expected to repeat the feat and Ali Zafar also doesn’t have much to lose.
Director Shaad Ali’s previous release Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom too met with a similar response; a mixed review from the critics, stating that the movie confuses them and a lukewarm response at the Box Office.
November 21, 2014 will see the release of Happy Ending that stars Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’cruz, Kalki Koechlin and our very own Govinda.
We hope that Happy Ending would prove to be a good one for Govinda. Fingers crossed!!
