The film that released in approximately two thousand three hundred screens has managed to be the highest opening grosses of 2015.
Despite negative reviews, the film opened well has become Akshay Kumar’s highest opening day grosser, beating his other releases like Holiday and It’s Entertainment.
Kamal Haasan starrer Uttama Villain did not affect the Box Office collections of Gabbar Is Back, especially in the South and the film maintained a steady hold.
Gabbar Is Back collected Rs 13.05 crore nett on Friday (May 01, 2015), the collections dipped a little on Saturday (May 02, 2015) and the film managed to collect Rs 11.36 crore nett and on Sunday (May 03, 2015) the film took a jump and collected Rs 15.00 crore nett; thus making it a total of Rs. 39.14 crore nett at the end of it’s first weekend.
Gabbar Is Back is also become the highest opener of 2015, the first quarter of which ended with Hollywood films Furious 7 and Avengers: Age Of Ultron doing exceeding well at the Box Office.
Akshay Kumar stars as a vigilante named Gabbar in the Krish directed film. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead with Kareena Kapoor making a special appearance.
The weekend collections brought a lot of hope and if all goes well that it seems that the dry spell may just be over.
The film might not end up becoming a huge blockbuster at the Box Office, but at the same time will recover it’s cost and if all goes well may have a decent overflow.
Coming up next week (May 08, 2015) one will see the release of Piku and Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, which will followed by Bombay Velvet (May 15, 2015), Welcome 2 Karachi (May 21, 2015) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns and (May 22, 2015).
With the current line up of films set for a release, we do see a lot of action at the Box Office.
