However one expected both Dolly Ki Doli and Baby to end the disastrous spell but looks like it will only be Baby that may have a decent change of survival.
Dolly Ki Doli started to a poor opening at the Box Office with about ten to fifteen percent occupancy. The film got bad reviews and the word of mouth was worse and thus it has fallen flat at the end of it’s first weekend.
The film managed to collect Rs 02.55 crore nett on Friday (January 23, 2015), on Saturday (January 24, 2015) the film managed Rs 03.44 crore nett and on Sunday (January 25, 2015) the film collected about Rs 04.76 crore nett; thus clocking about Rs 10.75 crore nett at the Domestic Box Office.
Sonam Kapoor starrer Dolly Ki Doli could have benefited because of the national holiday today (Republic Day), but the way things are shaping up chances for the same look bleak.
Now coming to Neeraj Pandey’s Baby, the film might have been a slow starter, but with good reviews as well as good word of mount the film picked up and has seen a steady growth during it’s first weekend.
Baby had a good opening in the metros and urban multiplexes, but due to the title and the urban look, the film started on a slow note in places like Gujarat, Bihar and UP.
Baby managed to collect Rs 09.30 crore nett on Friday (January 23, 2015), on Saturday (January 24, 2015) the film managed Rs 11.17 crore nett and on Sunday (January 25, 2015) the film collected about Rs 15.60 crore nett; thus clocking about Rs 36.07 crore nett at the Domestic Box Office.
Today, (Monday) being Republic Day, the film is sure to gain momentum.
Next week, January 30, 2015 will see the release of Hawaizaada, Khamoshiyan and Rahasya. Now none of the films look promising and this may work in favour of Baby.
With films flopping left, right and centre, one thing is for sure that we need content rather that cheap titillation, some rabid songs and a huge star cast.
Bollywood, wake – up and smell the coffee!!!
