Badlapur opened to low occupancies in areas like Gujarat, UP and Bihar but film was better in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Delhi.
The Box Office collections for Badlapur have been pegged at Rs 07 crore nett on Friday (February 20, 2015), Rs 08.50 crore nett on Saturday (February 21, 2105), Rs 08.00 crore nett on Sunday (February 22, 2105), on Monday (February 23, 2105) the collections fell to Rs 04.05 crore nett, Tuesday (February 24, 2105) it collected Rs 03.35 crore nett, Wednesday (February 25, 2105) saw a further drop in the collections and the movie made about Rs 03.01 crore nett and on Thursday (February 26, 2105) the film collected close to about Rs 02.40 crore nett; thus totalling up to Rs 36.31 crore nett at the end of it’s first week.
Considering that the film was meant for a niche audience, it is performing it’s best in the urban centers especially in metros. The film was released in about one thousand seven hundred screens.
Badlapur, also took a hit because of it’s adult certificate and the ICC Cricket World Cup. What’s ironical is the fact that the release timing of this one was perfect as there was no competition, either from the films that have already been released or the ones that we releasing this week.
The business in the North has been average and it will be the second weekend that will decide whether it emerges a hit or not.
However, had the makes worked on the content of the film a bit more this was would have been a sure blockbuster.
Today, February 27, 2015, saw the release of Ab Tak Chhappan 2 and Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Both films according to me do not hold promise.
Both Ab Tak Chhappan 2 and Dum Laga Ke Haisha will be slow starters at the Box Office and will only pick if the word of mouth of the same is good.
