Sony Pal, did create curiosity for the star-studded Yeh Pal Humara Hai event that kick-started the launch of the channel on September 01, 2014, but that has been the only positive buzz that the channel has had, for its first week ratings say a sad tale.
With shows like – Simply Baate With Raveena, Piya Basanti Re, Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi, Dil Hai Chhota Sa Chhoti Si Asha, Hamari Sister Didi, Tum Saath Ho Jabh Apne, Sinhasan Battisi and Khushiyon Kii Gullak Aashi the channel has tried their best to have a mixed bag but unfortunately have fallen flat.
All the shows look very mundane and boring and have nothing to offer. Their entire line-up of shows are very unimpressive and have been worked around poor production values.
The channel, launched with the tagline Yeh Pal Hamara Hai, is targeted at the traditional, yet modern Indian woman. However, the shows of the channel failed to appeal to the Indian audiences.
The channel probably lost it way as they took a Let’s take it easy policy in the pre-launch promotional activities. Probably the channel missed out on seeking lessons from Life OK who did a swell job promoting their channel and new line-up of shows during its launch phase.
The daily soaps do not have anything new to offer. The same old plots and story lines makes it a dull affair. Above all, the tightfisted budget is clearly seen in the very crass ambiance of the shows.
The beginning has been pathetic and we are saying this with pertinence to the GRP’s got in the first week. Sony Pal has managed to open with only 11,000 GVTS, as per TAM datawhich is a below.
