It’s all about two people who hate each other, it’s all about two people from two different worlds and it’s all about two people who would eventually fall in love; well we are talking about Humsafars that premiered on Sony Entertainment Television on September 22, 2014.
Humsafars set against the fashion world, is a love story between a small town girl and a snooty millionaire. This is the story of how destiny brings together two people who don’t see eye to eye on anything when they meet but eventually fall head over heels in love with each other.
Humsafars is a journey of Arzoo Nausheen Khan (Shivya Pathania), a budding fashion designer and Sahir Chaudhary (Harshad Chopra), the owner of a fashion house.
Arzoo who is from Lucknow comes to Mumbai to fulfill her dreams of becoming a fashion designer and ends up working for Sahir who owns a fashion house, Sayaara. What follows is a love story between two imperfect and contrasting individuals and what happens when their worlds collide.
The writing on Humsafars is the weakest with characters just walking in and out of scenes. Also they have been written differently for the sake of being different without any solid intent. For instance, Sahir has burnt bread, now this is actually because of his past, guess something to do with his wife so why rub that in? Is this intelligent drama when the viewers are not aware of any such past of Sahir yet? Oops!!
As far the the star cast is concern, Arzoo (Shivya Pathania) is very similar to Kashaf Murtaza and Sahir resembles Zaroon Junaid from Zindagi Gulzar Hai; though both are poor copies.
What shocking is the fact that Arzoo is from Lucknow and a well read girl. She is a fashion designer but is unaware of the basics when it comes to boarding a flight. She is seen telling the ground staff that she would want to cut her nails by spreading a news paper in the flight. Wow that’s so cool and innocent.
According to Shivya Pathania, who plays Arzoo, her character in the show is independent and strong; then how come such huge discrepancies. Either she can be independent and strong or she can be naive. There is too much confusion on this one.
Coming on to Sahir (Harshad Chopra), well he is just trying hard to look intense and brooding all the time even when not required. Sahir is just about being antsy for everything and anything. Sahir as a character has nothing new to offer except the fact that he has an ailing wife which will be reviled later in the show. What’s disappointing is the tone with which Sahir is talking as it looks forced and put on.
Other star cast includes actors like Vibha Chibber, Sehban Azim, Madhumalti, Purva Parag and Payal Rohatgi among others.
During the launch of the show the channel had stated that with this show, they shall fulfil their promise of presenting unique and entertaining programming content which is traditional yet modern.
Sadly Humsafars is neither unique more entertaining!!
