Gautam Gulati, who essays the role of the eldest brother of the Rathi household had been contemplating the move for a while and has finally called it a day. Karan Goddwani, who was last seen in Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal is all set to take Gautam’s place.
“His last day of shoot for Diya Aur Baati Hum is September 20, 2014 and Bigg Boss starts from September 21, 2014,” says the source.
“As actors we know which are the good production houses and when I got a call from Sumeet Mittal I was happy to go and give a screen test. I was finalised within two days.” states Karan Goddwani.
For Karan Goddwani, it will be a huge challenge not only fitting in the shoes of Gautam, but also essaying the Rajasthani character.
“My background is completely different from Vikram. I am a Mumbaite now and brought up in Spain, so getting the Rajasthani dialect and speaking gaav ki bhasha will be a challenge. I will give my two hundred per cent to the role and see how it goes”
As per the current track on Diya Aur Baati Hum, Vikram Rathi is very upset with his wife, Meena, for lying about giving birth to a son when she had a girl. Though she has owned up and brought back the girl Vikram hasn’t gotten over his hatred.
Meanwhile there has been a lot of pressure on the makes of Diya Aur Baati Hum because he show has lost of number one slot to Zee TV‘s Kumkum Bhagya from the past couple of weeks. The ratings of the show have been on a downward swing since the last three weeks and the makers are trying to infuse freshness with new tracks.
Well, it would be interesting to see what Gautam Gulati would do in the controversial Bigg Boss 8 House and if his move was worth its while or no.
