As customary, Bigg Boss 8 was launched with a lot of fanfare. The production house got Salman Khan to agree to anchor yet another season, the format was also tweeted a bit but then the show fell flat.
Till date one has contestants like Rakhi Sawant, Urvashi Dholakia, Sambhavna Seth, Dolly Bindra, Gauahar Khan, Tanishaa Mukerji and many more; but this season there are non that have caught our attention and non are endearing.
House mates like Karishma Tanna, Upen Patel or Puneet Issar are cheap clones of the contestants from the previous seasons, thus offering nothing new.
The contest pool of Bigg Boss 8 looks very lame and is full of wannabe house mates who are just there. There was some drama about the so called secret society with three members given special privileges before the entered the show.
Unfortunately for the makers the identities of these secret members was made public way before they anticipated. The start seemed really weak and the sentiment since then, has stayed through the season.
In Bigg Boss 8, contestants like Diandra Soares, Sonali Raut or even Karishma Tanna are playing a very safe game. Guess they feel that if they open up, they will be nominated but then nominations are inevitable and week after week things will get tougher and they too will get nominated sooner or later.
Salman Khan is trying hard to give a reality check to all the house mates but then most of them seems to be scared to get into a argument or take a stand.
What’s funny is the fact that some of the house mates are actually lazy to get into any argument and prefer walking away from the fight instead of tackling the issue and settling it on the spot.
The most desperate attempt to spice up the show was when Parineeti Chopra stated that Ali Quli Mirza, who happens to be her family friend, touched her inappropriately.
Parineeti in her defence clarified that the producers came up to her with the idea and stated that it would get the episode high ratings. Even though she has an equation with Ali, the joke didn’t quite go down too well with the viewers. Not only did she get flack for trivialising the issue, but the whole set up seemed cheap, below the belt and gimicky!
All in all, Bigg Boss 8 has been a huge disappointment!!
