However, it was in the year 2007 with Saat Phere on Zee TV, that made everyone take notice of his talent. He essayed the character of Yug and boy he got it right from the word go.
Within a couple of episodes, Akshay made his presence felt and proved that he not only had the talent, but also had the potential to carry a tough role with great ease.
One expected him to be flooded with offers post Saat Phere, but then one got to see him in shows like Waaris on Zee TV and Rahe Tera Aashirwaad on Colors. Both these shows, never utilised his talent to the fullest.
Once Rahe Tera Aashirwaad went off air, Akshay Sethi too vanished and for a year one did not see him, but then it was with Sasural Genda Phool in the year 2010 that he surfaced back and once again hit bulls eyes.
Sasural Genda Phool had a huge ensemble cast, most of them were veterans, but Akshay Sethi made sure that he give his character, Deepak, all that he could and compelled everyone to take notice of him.
His dedication and honesty towards his craft spoke volumes and once again Akshay made sure that he did complete justice to a complexed role.
Once Sasural Genda Phool ended, instead of waiting for the right role to come his way, Akshay took shows like C.I.D., Baal Veer, Laut Aao Trisha, Aahat, Shapath and Savdhaan India.
Guess for him, it’s about either being all in or getting out, as there is no halfway; an approach that speaks volumes about the person that he is.
What’s surprising is the fact that an actor of his caliber is yet to get his due but we are sure that he will, because one cannot curb a good talent for long.
People who shine from within, do not need a spotlight; guess that’s how I would like to sum up this talented actor.
Here’s wishing Akshay all the best for a great future ahead.
