The Longest Ride is all about a dreamy cowboy and former bull rider named Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood) who captures the heart of a young student, Sophia Danko (Britt Robertson).
Sophia Danko forms a relationship with an ageing World War II veteran, who tells her the story of his own romance with a lost love.
The movie follows how the lives of a young couple intertwine with a much older man as he reflects back on a lost love while he’s trapped in an automobile crash.
As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected connection with Ira (Alan Alda), whose memories of his own decades long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple.
In the trailer, we see Luke Collins begins to fall for Britt Robertson, despite the fact they come from such different worlds.
Luke is a former bull riding champion, on the verge of making a comeback in the saddle, while Britt is about to graduate from college and pursue her artist dreams in New York City.
When Luke gets seriously injured during one of his competitions, it’s up to Britt to make him see that his life depends on quitting that part of his life.
If The Longest Ride sounds similar to the plot mechanisms of another movie you might have heard of called The Notebook, then you aren’t mistaken to make such a connection.
That 2004 film was also adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, so, if The Longest Ride delivers is any way similarly, it’s safe to say we will very much be on board.
Jack Huston, Oona Chaplin and Alan Alda also star in the film, that’s set to for a April 10, 2015 release.
