Tom Daley, twenty, who looked dapper in a navy blow tuxedo jacket and bow tie, took to the podium at the annual award ceremony in London to receive the night’s biggest trophy.
“It’s a real honour to be named Man Of The Year 2014 by Attitude Magazine. It’s been a good year and to be given this award means a lot.” stated Tom Daley post receiving the honour.
A lot has certainly changed for the Olympic diver since last December, when he released a personal video clip on YouTube in which he explained to fans that he was in a relationship with a man. He later admitted that he was gay, rather than bisexual.
“Pressing that button, to press upload, and send it out. I cannot tell you the feeling, should I do it, should I not do it. It was the most nerve racking thing I’ve ever done. My life has changed dramatically. Not only have my family been supportive, but the whole British public has just been amazing. Never once did I think that their reaction was possible.” stated Tom Daley with a lot of pride.
