When questioned if she would return for the upcoming American Idol Series Finale (Season 15) on the radio show, the pop star vehemently declined and stated that she will not be a part of the reality show as it was a huge mistake.
“I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show. Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool.” stated Mariah Carey, referencing the behind the scenes tensions she shared with fellow judge Nicki Minaj.
According to her, the show should have been about the contestants instead of about some nonexistent feud between Nicki Minaj and her that turned into something ridiculous.
She continued that her time spent at the judges table was boring and fake. The singer served on a panel alongside country singer Keith Urban, producer/musician Randy Jackson and rapper Nicki Minaj in 2013.
Both Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj left the show after just one season, while Keith Urban stayed and joined Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr.
Mariah Carey’s confession comes in just a couple of weeks after Fox announced that American Idol Season 15 would be the final season.
