Director: Ol Parker

If you leave the funny scenes & dialogues, you’d be left with a wafer-thin plot & a rather unfathomable story in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

The film is a follow-up to the 2008 film, Mamma Mia. It’s been a year since Donna’s (Meryl Streep) death. Her daughter, Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried) is preparing for the grand reopening of her mother’s hotel. The invitations are sent across to everyone including her three dads (yes, you heard that right) – Harry Bright (Colin Firth), Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgård), and Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan). The film traces how Donna was in her younger days, her carefree spirit & her relationships. It also shows Sheridan’s love for her mother.

It’ seems that the film is made just because the previous one was a hit without paying any attention to the script, story or screenplay. Having said that, the film isn’t a complete waste. The comical moments & the dialogues keep you entertained. It’s a treat to watch the many ABBA songs

The acting is good. Special mention to Christine Baranski & Julie Walters, who play their parts perfectly. Amanda Seyfried does a decent job and so do all the men.

So, the film works in parts but fails if you consider it in totality. We give it 2.5 stars with a small kink.
