December 2014, Madonna was forced to rush out six songs from her upcoming album Rebel Heart after over a dozen early mixes of the album’s tracks leaked online well before the singer’s thirteenth album was even announced.
Now, the Israeli investigators arrested one suspect they believe is responsible for the Madonna hack.
Israeli police and cyber crime unit Lahav 433 confirmed that they had a thirteen nine year old man in custody, adding that they have evidence that the man hacked Madonna’s personal computers and then sold the Rebel Heart leaks to a third party.
Israeli police said the man was suspected of stealing work from several unnamed international stars. A private investigator connected to the case confirmed Madonna was among them.
Madonna has to rush and release a number of new songs last month after demos and unfinished mixes from her new album Rebel Heart made their way online.
Madonna called the leak a form of terrorism.
Her manager Guy Oseary stated that the devastating action had prompted the surprise release of six songs from Rebel Heart in December 2014, months earlier than planned.
Authorities also remarked that the man had hacked into the personal computers of other artists, but did not elaborate on the other victims or what was taken. Israeli media is reporting that the suspect, whose name has not been revealed, was once a contestant on one of the country’s singing competitions.
“I was hoping to release my new single Living for Love on Valentine’s Day with the rest of the album coming in the spring. I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift.” Madonna said in a statement.
For Madonna, she never sits down and consciously think want to write a song about a subject. For her music leads her to ideas and to where she goes emotionally.
Rebel Heart is due out March 10, 2015.
