Lynda Bellingham is suffering from colon cancer, which has spread to her lungs and liver, in July 2013. Writing in her autobiography, Lynda Bellingham stated that she requested her doctors that she wanted her treatment to stop in November 2014.
Her autobiography, Memoir, that will be published on October 09, 2014, is being serialised. In the book she says in an entry dated August 13, 2014: “I sat down with my husband, Michael Bellingham and Professor Stebbing, my oncologist and announced; The time has come to cease and desist. I would love to make one more Christmas, if possible, but I want to stop taking chemo around November 2014 in order to pass away by the end of January 2015.”
Lynda Bellingham stated that the chemotherapy was so strong her body was protesting and she was in pain and discomfort.
When Lynda Bellingham made her illness publicly known she was about to embark on a UK tour of Kay Mellor’s play A Passionate Woman. She said at the time she had to postpone the project in order to undergo a procedure.
“I’m devastated not to be able to honour my commitments to the play this year. But having toured many times before, I’m aware of the sheer stamina needed and I need to prioritise my recovery. That said, nothing’s going to stop me coming back next year, and I can’t wait to be A Passionate Woman.” she had stated then.
The said part is Lynda Bellingham could never return to being a A Passionate Woman and the production has not resumed.
