Absolutely Fabulous star Jane Horrocks, television and radio presenter Fearne Cotton and Jim Broadbent best know for his role in the movie Topsy Turvy are set to voice for the characters in the new Teletubbies series.
Jane Horrocks will voice the Tubby Phone, a new addition to the show, while Jim Broadbent and Fern Cotton will take on the role of the Voice Trumpets.
“I am very excited to be playing the Tubby Phone in the new series. The series has a whole new feel to it, I think it’s hilarious, and it will appeal to adults as much as it does children.” stated a visibly excited Jane Horrocks.
Actor and comedian Daniel Rigby will narrate the show while Misfits star Antonia Thomas will narrate the opening and closing lines.
DHX Media has unveiled a string of well known British stars that are voicing characters in the new Teletubbies series.This classic kids show is once created in a field in Warwickshire more than twenty years ago, is returning to the television screens.
The remake is due to air on CBeebies later this year, with the addition of a must have gadget, a mobile phone.
However, the producers of the show have stated that this new series would feature the same characters – Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po, and they will be in the same style as the original but with a refreshed and contemporary look.
Teletubbies is truly a British institution and it’s going to be very exciting to be involved in bringing this global hit back to the television screens.
This new series, we are sure, will enthrall a whole new generation of children across Britain.
The original show, which was seen by around one billion children in over hundred countries following it’s launch in 1997.
