Hellboy Movie Review: Leaves You Unimpressed

Hellboy

Feature Name: Hellboy
Director: Neil Marshall
Cast: David Harbour, Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Milla Jovovich

Hellboy isn’t completely unwatchable but it gives you get those ‘maza nahin aaya’ feels.

Hellboy (David Harbour) works in the Bureau for Paranormal Research (BRPD) and his main job is to protect people from any kind of external threats. The evil Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich) returns after ages and her aim is to seek revenge from the humans who tried to kill her. She knows the potential of Hellboy and tries to seek his partnership. Will Hellboy agree?

There are some super hilarious scenes which keep you entertained. There are also many expletives but don’t really mind them. While many scenes are gory with blood and organs being eaten, the treatment reduces their impact. But the film inconsistent and has many subplots that are of little importance. The action scenes are well-shot but are just too many. Some twists are good though.

David Harbour acts well and proves that he’s a versatile actor. Milla Jovovich doesn’t have much to do.

All said and done, you can watch Hellboy provided you keep your expectations in check. We give it 2.5 stars with no kinks.
