Gringo Movie Review: Predictable Fun

Gringo poster

Gringo is a crime comedy that works in most bits.

Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) is a loyal employee and completely trusts his boss Richard Rusk (Joel Edgerton). But Rusk, along with his partner Elaine Markinson (Charlize Theron) has some plans which might adversely affect him. He gets to know this and takes matters into his own hand before it’s too late.

The humour, mostly arising from serious situations, is one of the main highlights and keeps you entertained. There are so many twists and turns that you almost feel like, you’re watching an Abbas-Mustan film. It is long but decent. The climax is a bit too convenient but you don’t really mind that.

David Oyelowo comes out great while Joel Edgerton delivers a good performance. Charlize Theron is fine. All the other actors do a fine job.

Gringo has enough in it to keep you interested. We give it 3 stars with a kink.
