He was a former U.S. Army Ranger and Calvin Klein model, appeared on the Bravo reality show Work Out and stars in the network’s new Friends To Lovers series. He was also featured on Days Of Our Lives and has appeared in a number of commercials.
He was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Burbank, California, on Saturday (January 17, 2015), authorities said. The fatal collision occurred around 04:00 pm on the tracks just north of the station.
Greg Plitt was with friends who were filming something during the incident and police said his death appears to have been an accident. A passenger told that station that Greg Plitt was dressed in black at the time.
“The train went by. I saw him stumble over the tracks. He had a camcorder in his hand,” the witness said.
Fitness model Jamie Eason wrote on Facebook that Greg Plitt was “filming a spot for his protein shake” when he was struck and killed.
“We couldn’t take our eyes off Greg Plitt after we cast him on Work Out. He was as nice as he was beautiful. Seemed invincible, like Superman.” Andy Cohen tweeted on Sunday.
He was sponsored by several fitness companies and the nutritional-supplement company MET-Rx, which on Sunday expressed sadness about his death on Twitter.
“With profound sorrow, we acknowledge that the world has lost a true inspiration. You will be remembered and forever missed.” MET-Rx tweeted.
He had a successful career as a model appearing on the covers of some two hundred fitness magazines and twenty five romance novels and was the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel Men and Ice Men fragrances.
He also made it onto the big screen with roles alongside Robert DeNiro in The Good Shepherd, Christian Bale in Terminator Salvation and starred as the body of Dr Manhattan in The Watchmen.
