Daddy’s Home 2 takes off from where Daddy’s Home (2015) ended. Father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell), come together to co-parent their kids. They plan to have a great Christmas time together until Dusty’s ‘tough’ dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s overtly-affectionate dad (John Lithgow) arrive and everything goes for a toss.
This film is supposed to be a comedy of errors but there are only errors and no comedy. There are barely any scenes that make you laugh and most of them make you cringe. There’s one scene in which the character played by Mel Gibson tells a kid how to assault a girl. It’s full of forced situations and it’s hard to think of what I liked in it. All the female characters have no scope.
On the performances front, only Mark Wahlberg is good. Mel Gibson should be given an award for overacting. Will Ferrell is okay.
Daddy’s Home 2 will make you want to chill at your own home. Go for this only if you want to ruin your Christmas joy. We give it 1.5 stars with no kink.
