In the year 2011, he was in the list of the Sexiest Man Alive, was also referred to as The Hottest Chef Of America and now his book, Utsav – A Culinary Epic Of Indian Festivals is the first ever cookbook to be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival; well, we are talking about the celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna.
This is the first time in 68 years of the Cannes Film Festival that a cookbook was launched here at the French Riviera.
To add to all the razzmatazz, Sonam Kapoor was present at the launch looking stunning in a white Ashi Studio couture creation. Muted diamond studs and a pair of white sandals added the much required dazzle to the already gorgeous looking Sonam.
It was post her LO’real Paris commercial shoot along with Andie Macdowell, that Soman Kapoor came in to attend Vikas Khanna’s book launch.According to Vikas Khanna, it’s taken him twelve years to finally compile this cookbook.
Priced at Rs 08 lacs or US$ 13,000, Utsav – A Culinary Epic Of Indian Festivals is setting the price of the most expensive cookbook in the world and if this was not enough, the book weighs over fifteen kilos.
The limited edition of the book has a poem embossed in gold ink.
The book celebrates India’s known and lesser known festivals. Their rituals, ceremonies and customs of food through sacred ingredients. This is Chef Vikas Khanna’s twenty first book and is dedicated to the Transgender community of India.The book will have a formal launch in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and would be handed over personally to about twelve most prolific leaders by Chef Vikas Khanna himself.

Born in Amritsar, Vikas was born with misaligned legs and feet and wasn’t able to run until he was thirteen. He was inspired by his grandmother who loved to cook, and her kitchen became a part of his foundational training.
