Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Josh Brolin, Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Olson, Paul Bettany, Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Mark Ruffalo, Danai Gurira Director: Anthony and Joe Russo Let’s face it. How a superhero film eventually turns out to be is heavily dependent on how good or bad its villain is. Avengers: Infinity War gives us a bad guy who’ll remembered for a long time to come. The Avengers and their allies are up against the mighty, powerful and evil Thanos (Josh Brolin) who wants to create havoc after collecting six stones – Mind, Soul, Power, Space, Time and Reality. Revealing anything more might spoil your experience and we don’t want to do that. The scale is perhaps bigger than any Marvel film but that doesn’t compromise the storytelling or the script. Sure, it does seem a bit long but you don’t really mind that. It’s also the bravest and the most uncompromising Marvel film, definitely not ‘massy’ and convenient. Thanos’ back story is absurd yet convincing. He has a reason for his actions and can go to any extent for it. Despite being grim, the film scores high on the humour and action quotient. The re-entry of Thor and its lead-up is one of the best portions. The punchlines and jibes between several characters are amazing. There are two actions sequences in the climax and we can’t pick which one is better. It ends on a solid note and we can’t wait for the next chapter. Definitely not undermining the other actors, but on the performances front, the film belongs to Josh Brolin and Chris Hemsworth (Thor). Avengers: Infinity War is different in many aspects and leaves you quite satiated. We give it 4 stars with a big kink.
