“Yes, the film is in race with eight other films for the official Indian entry to the Oscars.” stated an upbeat Prosenjit Chatterjee.
Srijit Mukherji announced the big news on his official Facebook page and wrote, “Jaatishwar in the race to be the Indian entry at the Oscars, along with eight other films. Congratulations and all the best to the team!.”
On the other hand Prosenjit Chatterjee took on to twitter and thanked the team of Jaatishwar and wrote, “Thanks and proud that the hard work of team Jaatishwar has been paid and it is being selected for Oscar.”

Jaatishwar revolves around the life of Hensman Anthony, a 19th century Bengali language folk poet of Portuguese origin, as the script criss crosses between 19th and 21st centuries. Kabir Suman is the music director of Jaatishwar, while Indradip Dasgupta is the assistant music director. The album was critically and commercially successful.
For the first time ever, a Bengali film was released in more than twenty cities in India like Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Vashi, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Baroda, Dhanbad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Patna, Indore, Raipur, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati and Chennai. Outside Bengal, Jaatishwar was released with English subtitles.
