Bajirao Mastani’s new track Pinga, which was launched yesterday, has been in news ever since it was announced. And from day one, the song was being compared to Dola Re from Devdas on which Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit had danced fabulously.
Bajirao Mastani and Devdas both are directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So, the comparison between both the tracks is inevitable.
Dola Re was a song with Durga Pooja as the backdrop, where Ash and Madhuri dance like there’s no tomorrow while professing their love for Devdas. The song, which had a Bengali folk touch in it, was composed by Ismail Darbar. Shreya Ghoshal and Kavita Krishnamurthy’s voices perfectly suited Ash and Madhuri. Veteran choreographer Saroj Khan won a National Award for training the two actresses with her fantastic dance moves.
After 13 years, SLB tries to recreate the Ash and Madhuri magic with Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone in Pinga. While Dola Re was about Bengali feel, Pinga totally has a Maharashtrian flavour. In fact, there are many Marathi words in the lyrics. This song is composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and once again we have Shreya Ghoshal’s voice in it along with Vaishali Mhade’s voice. The song is choreographed by Remo D’souza and he surprises us with this kind of choreography.
Well, both the songs are good in their own way. Watch them right here and let us know which is your favourite.
