Tu Hai Mera Sunday starts off impressively with its quirky characters and plot, but fails to hold.
Arjun (Barun Sobti), Dominic (Vishal Malhotra), Rashid (Avinash Tiwari), Mehernosh (Nakul Bhalla) and Jayesh (Jay Upadhyay) are friends who meet every Sunday to play football on the beach. One incident causes a football ban on the beach and they begin a hunt to find a new place. The film is also about the relationships they share with each other and the people in their lives.
The main problem with the film is that it gets too preachy and says the same point of finding and fighting for your happiness, again and again. The way some characters behave is dumbfounding to say the least. Rasika’s character gives her number to a stranger whom she has met for the first time. Also, it is way exaggerated in saying that there are no grounds at all for people to play in Mumbai. However, there are some genuinely real moments in the film that save the day.
On the performances front, Shahana Goswami steals the show. She should really act in more films. Barun Sobti acts well. Vishal Malhotra is fine. Jay Upadhyay overacts.
Tu Hai Mera Sunday is an average film at best. We give it 2 stars with no kink.
