The massacre caused a deep sense of grief and disbelief in Pakistan and across the world.
For several weeks after the attack, Ali Zafar struggled to move on. Performances, including a concert in South Africa on New Year’s Eve, were cancelled because, as he puts it: “I just couldn’t bring myself to go through with it.”
The song titled Urain Ge (We Will Fly) features about forty leading Pakistan actors.
“It was time to not just do more but also to motivate and inspire others to do more… If we don’t make and take a stand now, and continue to rely on others to do it for us, we will never attain, retain or sustain the status of a homeland we aspire for,” states the talented Ali Zafar.
Written and composed by Ali Zafar, Urain Ge, is not just an ode to the victims, but also hope for a better future.
“I have always believed that an artist should be more than a tool for his art to resonate through. Although I have been keenly contributing towards various social causes, I always chose not to personally highlight them, until last year. The reason behind his shift was conscious. I thought it was time to not just do more but also to motivate and inspire others to do more. I believed that we had no other choice left.” states Ali Zafar.
At the start of the song, the mood is grave but as the tempo rises the music transforms into something uplifting, promising hope for a better tomorrow.
Ali Zafar is arguably Pakistan’s most popular and charismatic showbiz personality.
His face features on large billboard advertisements across cities and towns and on television commercials.
We are proud of Ali Zafar and the entire team of Urain Ge.
