Dozakh has been written and directed by Zaigham Imam and is an adaption of the novel by the same name, which has also been written by Zaigham.
The beauty of this trailer lies in its detailing and the way the director has managed to handle a very sensitive issue. According to what one saw, the film is through the eyes of a child and what he feels about life and religion.
There is an innocence with which the film has been presenting and that’s one things that captivates you though this two minute trailer.
Being a first time director, one has to applaud Zaigham Imam for putting this one together. Kudos to you boy!!
Set in a small town near Varanasi, a clash happens between the offering of the routine morning prayers of the Muslim cleric and his neighboring Hindu priest. The Muslim cleric is vexed with the Hindu priest but is more bothered about his twelve year old son Janu who is a good friend of his rival, the Hindu Priest.
The cleric loses his temper when he comes to know that his son has participated in the annual Hindu mythological play Ramleela and played the role of the Hindu God, Hanuman.
He gets upset, punishes his son and explains him the difference between the two religions. But Janu absconds from his home.
It’s then that the father realises that he is first a parent to his son before being a cleric.
The film premiered at the Kolkata International Film Festival on November 13, 2013.
Dozakh stars Lalit Mohan Tiwari, Nazim Khan, Garrick Chaudhary, Pawan Tiwari and Ruby Saini and has been jointly produced by Zaigham Imam and Pawan Tiwari.
