Ranbir Kapoor essays the role of Johnny Balraj, while Anushka Sharma is Rosie Noronha. Balraj is a fighter, with dreams of making it big and Rosie is someone everyone lusts for. Both fall in love, but then things just go wrong.
Both Balraj and Rosie are seen smooching most of the time in the trailer and I guess that’s all what the makers would have wanted to focus on. Sad but true.
Anyways, moving on, in all of this we have Karan Johar essaying the role of Parsi businessman Kaizad Khambatta, who promises to make the simple Johnny Balraj, one of the big guys.
Greasy hair, a suspicious mustache and his signature pout, Karan Johar looks more comic than serious. Oops!!
What’s funny is the fact that Rosie has her own secrets, one of which is the negative of a photo and the other being her hideous lip job. She just falls in love with Balraj and then we see her in a bathtub with him and then in a hotel, well its just so boring and all over the place.
Someone needs that negative from Rosie and then Balraj decides to kill the lady he loved. Oh My God!! This one looks like an epic disaster.
The film has been set in the 1960’s, and the makers have only worked hard on the look of the film which is impressive. As far as the film goes, well, I am sure it will be as confusing as the trailer.
The screenplay of Bombay Velvet, has taken the team of Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Vikramaditya Motwane five years to write and looks like they should have taken some more.
The film also stars Raveena Tandon, Manish Choudhary and Siddharth Basu in supporting roles.
Bombay Velvet, which is a large screen adaptation of Gyan Prakash’s Mumbai Fables, is set for a May 15, 2015 release.
