Trailer Review: Badlapur – This One Takes Inspiration From Ek Villain

badlapur-02A jilted lover whose wife is dead is out to take revenge; are we talking about Ek Villain or Badlapur. Oops!! I am confused with this one.

The only twist in Badlapur, is the fact that the film takes a fifteen year leap, whereas in Ek Villain, the story goes real time.

Varun Dhawan replaces Siddharth Malhotra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui replaces Riteish Deshmukh and Sriram Raghavan replaces Mohit Suri. Too much fun!!

Anyways, directed by Sriram Raghavan, Badlapur stars Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Quereshi and Yami Gautam in lead roles.

The teaser has moments of terror, thrill, suspense and is high on drama;  just about every ingredient that could build up the thriller’s tension.

Varun Dhawan essays the role of Raghu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the character of Liak, the antagonist of the film. Just like in Ek Villain, the makers had harped on the fact that Sidharth was this rugged looking guy, in Badlapur too Varun Dhawan is touted to be going on similar lines.

Coming to Nawazuddin Siddiqui, well he is also looking as cool and as unassuming as Riteish Deshmukh in Ek Villain.

Varun has claimed Badlapur to be his most challenging role till date, one which has drained him of his emotions. The actor would always remain depressed and angry while shooting for the film, something that is very obvious from the trailer.

Varun has choreographed few of the major action sequences from the film and if reports are to be believed, the sequences came naturally to him.Varun was totally engrossed with his character and impressed everyone including the director. Not just that, during the climax scene, Varun called all the shots. Oops!! So we have a ghost director here.

The tailer of Badlapur pretty much divulges all the details of the film. However, Varaun Dhawan has a lot of hope with this film as he feels that this one could change his image from being a lover boy to an intense and brooding actor.

By saying that Badlapur is Sriram Raghavan’s version of Ek Villain, I am sure we will not be too off the mark.

Now let’s wait till February 20, 2015 when Badlapur is set to strike a punch at the Box Office.
