In 2014, we had many women-centric films and 2015 only continued that trend. Actresses, like the previous year, ruled this year as well. This year, a few performances from the actresses proved that they are not lesser than any actor. From doing action to doing dramatic-heroic roles, our actresses shined throughout the year.
Here’s our list of top 5 actresses of 2015:
1) Anushka Sharma (NH10)
Anushka Sharma as Meera in NH10 was simply brilliant. Not even in one frame did we feel that she is acting per se; she was absolutely natural, so much so that she made us feel the agony she was going through. She showed the pain of the character without going over the top. The way she fought for her husband with the goons made us give her a standing ovation once the film got over.
2) Deepika Padukone (Tamasha)
You might be thinking why Deepika is in our list for Tamasha and not for Piku or Bajirao Mastani. Well, Piku was a very simple role, and Bajirao Mastani was clearly a Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra film more than a Deepika movie. Deepika had a lot of layers in her character in Tamasha which she carried off terrifically. Tamasha is one of the best performances of the actress. Don’t believe us? Watch the film and you will come to know.
3) Priyanka Chopra (Dil Dhadakne Do, Bajirao Mastani)
Priyanka’s first release of the year was Dil Dhadakne Do in which she played the role of a successful businesswoman who had a lot of issues in her personal life. The role required a maturity and PeeCee showcased just that. Her second release of the year was Bajirao Mastani in which she played the role of Kashibai. Believe us and we are sure you too will agree that once we came out of the theatre we actually felt more bad for Kashi than for Bajirao or Mastani. Priyanka’s Kashibai act will go down in the history of Indian cinema.
4) Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Jazbaa)
Aishwarya who had mostly done glamorous roles in her career opted to make her big screen comeback with a hard-hitting thriller, Jazbaa. And thanks to Sanjay Gupta, we got to see a different side of Ash. The character which Aishwarya played in Jazbaa needed a strong actress and our beautiful-delicate Ash surprised us with her gritty avatar in the film.
5) Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu Returns)
Kangana Ranaut was the queen of 2014. The actress showcased a totally new Kangana in Queen and this year too she surprised us with her performance in Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Kangana played a double role in the film and the uniqueness about her characters was that both were strong characters unlike the other films in which one is strong and other is submissive. But the way Kangana maintained a strong difference between how she essays Tanu and Datto was worth an applause.
