All’s well in the life of married couple – Krish (Siddharth) and Laxmi (Andrea Jeremiah) until new neighbours moving in. They consist of Paul (Atul Kulkarni), his wife, father, a maid and two daughters – Jenny (Anisha Angelina Victor) and Sarah. Jenny is presumably possessed and eerie things start happening in their house.
The House Next Door is an excellent horror film with a great story. There are enough scenes to spook you and the best part is that most of them rely more on sound and less on visuals. There are many creepy scenes like the one in which a car is standing vertically, or the one where a voice recorder starts playing on its own. They just keep you invested in the film and you can’t wait to know what the back story is. The background score is deftly done and very rarely goes overboard.
It also helps to have an excellent set of actors. Siddharth is effortless. Andrea Jeremiah acts really well. Anisha Angelina Victor is good. Atul Kurkarni is promising. All the other actors do a great job.
Do watch The House Next Door but don’t blame us if you get many sleepless nights. We give it 3.5 stars with a kink.
