Shashi Kapoor who was admitted on September 21, 2104, to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after he complained of acute cough and breathlessness is stable and is likely to be discharged soon, said a source from the hospital.
“He is stable and he will be discharged in a day or two,” the source told media while updating the health condition of Shashi Kapoor.
His son Kunal Kapoor too confirmed the same saying: “He is recovering and he is stable right now.”
Ram Narain, Executive Director at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital too stated, “He had chest infection. He is now on antibiotics, but is stable right now.”
Known for his work in movies like Awaara, Deewar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Kabhie Kabhie, Shashi Kapoor has been staying away from the limelight since the late 1990’s.
Amitabh Bachchan who has teamed up with Shashi Kapoor in films like Deewar, Silsila, Trishul and many more wished him a speedy recovery. Mr Bachchan took on to Twitter and wrote. “May the Almighty be by the side of one that has been ill in Hospital for a few days and make him his usual self again.”
A chest or lung infection is a condition where the lungs get infected with either a virus or bacteria. It causes a lot of discomfort because as it progresses the patient is unable to breathe efficiently, leading to a lack of oxygen to the other organs in the body. Once the condition progress and becomes severe, a patient is more likely to suffer from other opportunistic infections and organ failure as well.
