Shashi Kapoor, seventy six, was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on September 21, 2014 after he complained of acute cough and breathlessness. He was then kept in the ICU.
Shashi Kapoor has been really excited to be back home, his son Kunal Kapoor said.
Shashi Kapoor has not been keeping well over the past few years. “He has had a lot of medical complications. He had a bypass, a couple of strokes, he is on dialysis, he has been through a lot.” But he asserted that his father is being well looked after. He said, “We have a good nursing staff. He is being well looked after.” stated Kunal Kapoor.
One of the most pronounced actors of Indian cinema, Shashi Kapoor has worked in over hundred and sixty films. He has been part huge blockbusters like Deewar, Silsila, Kabhie Kabhie, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and many more.
Shashi Kapoor is the younger brother of Raj Kapoor and has three children, Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor from his late wife Jennifer Kendal.
His elder son Kunal Kapoor is married to director Ramesh Sippy’s daughter and Sanjana Kapoor is married to wildlife conservationist Valmik Thapar. Karan Kapoor is an accomplished photographer settled in London.
Shashi Kapoor was one of the first Indian actors to work in Hollywood, has won National Film Awards thrice and in the year 2010, was presented with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in the year 2011.
