His journey in Bollywood stared in the year 1998, not as an actor but as an assistant directing with Govinda starrer Hum Tue Par Marte Hai.
Post that, Sharib Hashmi started writing for MTV and Channel V where her worked in the capacity of their in house script writer, but the actor in him always wanted to seen and so in the year 2008, he gave it all up to pursue his dream.
From one audition to another, one production to another, Sharib did all that he could. Yes, things were not easy for him but then Sharib was not willing to give up on his dream so easily.
During all of this, he was offered a small part in Slumdog Millionaire. For Sharib it was an opportunity that he did not want to let go. Though he did his bit in the film, the focus as we know, went to the likes of Anil Kapoor, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto.
Post the film, Sharib Hashmi was once again looking for work. It was infact the toughest phase of his life. With no money, no job and a family to take care off, Sharib was a worried man but what’s commendable about him is that fact that he did not lose hope.
However, a short film titled Mehroomi changed everything for him. The film went viral on the net and Shanoo Sharma, the casting director from Yash Raj Films, saw Mehroomi and cast him as Zain in Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan was followed by Filmistaan and as they say the rest is history.
They say, an actor is an emotional athlete and that’s why one sees’s Sharib Hashmi always on the run.
For you to be a great actor, one should be ready to give up anything, to be willing to risk your life for it and that’s what Sharib Hashmi is all about.
