Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is a weird film. I don’t know if it was a revenge drama or a love story or a movie about dreams & ambitions.
Aarti Shukla (Kriti Kharbanda) has completed her MA and is in no mood to get married. She wants to experience life more but her father wants to marry her off soon. She meets Satyendra (Rajkummar Rao) for arranged marriage and they both instantly start liking each other. The shaadi date is fixed. Revealing anything more will be spoiler.
The main drawback of the film is its clunky second half. There are way too many twists and it goes on and on. Some portions are completely unfathomable like the one in which Aarti takes credit for Satyendra’s success. Having said that, the first half is decent and keeps you involved. You also feel angry about how ‘log kya kahenge?’ plays in people’s minds.
Rajkummar Rao is in great touch and plays the various shades of his character with equal ease. Kriti Kharbanda needs to pull her acting socks up. All the other actors do a decent job.
Is shaadi mein jaane ki koi zaroorat nahin hai. We give it 2.5 stars with no kink.
