Sanju Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor Proves That He Is The Ustaad Of Sanjay Dutt Biopic

Sanju New Poster

Sanju, Baba, Sanjay Dutt – this man has many names, but what made him cringe was the title ‘Terrorist’. The Indian government took a call and wiped off this word from his character – but this world won’t forget. Ten good things and no one will talk about it, but one bad deed will turn the entire world against you! Something similar happened in Sanjay Dutt’s life. Well, I’m not here to say what’s right, and what’s wrong, but I can say that this film is the best biopic one can ever witness in Bollywood.

Sanjay Dutt had a life worth discussing – his stories, his different phases, the ups and downs he went through – everything is real. Sanju made headlines when Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani announced making a movie on Sanjay Dutt’s life, casting Ranbir Kapoor as the hero. And we won’t deny it, Ranbir is actually THE HERO in this movie. From astonishing transformation in his appearance to striking resemblance with Sanjay’s body language, Ranbir has worked hard for this one!

The film starts where Sanjay Dutt has asked a writer to pen a heartwrenching phase of his life but, turns out to be a hilarious upshot. Sanjay and Maanyata yearn for a good writer to share his story with his audience, before going back to jail and completing his sentence.

Sanjay met numerous people in his life, a few of them were his girlfriends (350+), and some became his best of friends. A lot of them tried to ruin his life and bring him down along with his stardom, but with a father like Sunil Dutt who picked him up, gave him all the affection and support a child needs when he is lost, and made sure his life gets on track before he leaves the world is what makes this man a legend!

Sanjay Dutt’s life choices, be it good or bad, has made him what he is today. Making bad decisions as a teenager, to still continuing taking worse turns in his life as an adult, taught him a lot! If it wouldn’t have been his father and his loving wife, this soul would have been lost in the world where no one wishes to enter.

Anushka Sharma – his writer, Dia Mirza – Maanyata Dutt, Jim Sarbh – a frenemy, Manisha Koirala – Nargis ji, and not miss, Vicky Kaushal – his BFF! Paresh Rawal plays the role of his father Sunil Dutt, and his acting skills have done total justice to the role. Where Jim Sarbh pulls off the role of a bad guy and all his accent made me go weak on my knees, Vicky Kaushal and his adorable gujju accent won my heart all over again.

We don’t wish to reveal any spoilers! If you are planning a light-hearted, comedy, yet heart-wrenching film this weekend, grab a tub and go for this one with your fam jam!

We give Sanju 3.5 stars and brownie points for RANBIR KAPOOR, and his whistle-worthy performance.
