Salman Khan Gets Convicted, Allowed To Go Home Till May 08, 2015

salman khan-16The thirteen year ordeal has finally come to an end as Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years for killing a homeless man and injuring four in a hit and run in 2002.

His family and friends inside the court were hoping that he would get a jail term of three years or less. But when the judge sentenced him to five years in prison, Salman Khan’s expression changed immediately.

Post the verdict, Salman Khan has been allowed to go home till Friday, May 08, 2015, when the Bombay High Court will hear his appeal for bail.

Salman Khan, forth nine, was also found guilty of negligent driving and causing grievous harm to the victims and given separate terms for each offence, but defence lawyers said all the sentences would run concurrently.

Post the verdict, there was a huge gust of Twitter messages that went from all across.

“It hurts when your own are punished, even if they are in the wrong. We love you and are standing by you,” Alia Bhatt announced on Twitter.

Arjun Kapoor tweeted, “It doesn’t matter what anyone or any court says he doesn’t deserve this at any level…will stand by Salman Khan no matter what.”

On the other hand Parineeti Chopra exhorted the judge to see the beauty that Salman Khan is, as a human being is.

“Hurts to think what could happen. We will always be with you. Hope the judge sees the beauty of the human being that Salman Khan is.” were Parineeti Chopra’s exact words.salman khan-15Lok Sabha MP Hema Malini reacted to Salman Khan’s conviction saying, “He is a wonderful person, this verdict will sadden his fans, but we cannot contradict the court’s verdict.”

“Prayers and strength for for my friend Salman Khan and his family. Harsh sentencing doesn’t mean justice. Must appeal. Deeply saddened. There is an enormous difference between being a criminal and being human. True justice is then served. Keep the faith.” wrote Sushmita Sen.

Karan Johar wrote an emotional message that read, “I can only respond emotionally just now. My thoughts and prayers are with Salman and his family today. I wish them strength.”

Now all eyes are set on May 08, 2015 when the final verdict will be out.
