Romeo Akbar Walter has an interesting premise but sadly that’s the only good thing about it.
The year is 1971. Cashier Rehmat Ali aka Romeo (John Abraham) is hired by (Research & Analysis Wing) RAW chief Shrikant Rai (Jackie Shroff) for a secret mission and is sent to Pakistan. It’s a very tough mission. Can he pull it off?
The film does remind you of Madras Cafe, which also featured John Abraham. The overall story is predictable and there are many portions in which you lose interest. It also seems too long and the songs don’t help at all. The love story of Romeo and Mouni doesn’t add any value. Some of the situations and scenes are so unbelievable that after a point, you just give up and don’t care about what’s happening. The execution is a big let down.
John Abraham acts well and certainly, is in good form. But there’s not much that he can do in a film which has a weak script. Sikander Kher as ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Col Khudabaksh Khan is fine. Mouni Roy doesn’t have much to do. Jackie Shroff is good. Raghubir Yadav is impressive.
Romeo Akbar Walter is disappointing. We give it 1 star with no kinks.
