“I think before my parents gave birth to me, they were completely in love. They consumed a lot of love. So that’s what is in my DNA now and that is what I consume and feel.” stated Rekha in an recent interview.
Love apart, she also believes that a person’s beauty emerges from one’s spiritual self. She strongly feels that until your spirit is not clean, your upbringing, your thoughts, your behaviour is not right, nothing matters.
Very few people know that Rekha wakes up early, eats well, doesn’t consume tea or coffee, no aerated waters or alcohol and not even champagne.
On her birthday, Rekha remembers her mother Pushpavalli the most and still continues her mother’s practice of warding away the evil eye. She states that her mother taught her to never focus on the negative.
“It became a part of my nature. If I see a certain faults in people, I know there will be more faults in me as well. I’d rather focus on how I should work on my faults. So it no rocket science that you need to be pure from your soul and positive in your thoughts.” informs Rekha.
She is currently busy promoting her latest film Super Naani that stars Randhir Kapoor, Shweta Kumar, Shreya Narayan and Sharman Joshi.
“Even at sixty, she retains her charm and beauty. She is beauty personified, in mind, body and soul. In Super Naani, you will get to see her again.” states Shreya Narayan who is essaying the role of Rekha’s daughter-in-law in the film.
In her over four-decade career Rekha may have worked in over a hundred and fifty films, including Ghar, Umrao Jaan, Khoobsurat, Izajat, Do Anjaane, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Silsila, Khoon Bhari Maang, Kama Sutra and Zubeidaa among others.
