Rang Rasiya is based on the controversial life of 19th century painter Raja Ravi Varma, a man of great talent who was disgraced by society for his work.
The film stars Randeep Hooda as Raja Ravi Varma and Nandana Sen as his muse alongside new comer Triptha Parashar, Feryna Wazheir and Rachna Shah.
The bright new Saraswati poster was recently released that features both Randeep and Nandana aptly portraying their characters. Dipped in colours of autumn, the poster displays Nandana imitating goddess Saraswati’s stance completing her look with a Veena in her left hand.
Randeep Hooda is caught standing behind her with an intense look and a paint brush, together creating a highly impactful modern day version of an image we all know very well.
The poster conveys a very important aspect of the film, that Raja Ravi Varma was the first one to paint gods and goddesses on canvas and often his inspiration was his muse, the beautiful Sugandha.
“It feels just like Diwali should – a new and auspicious beginning for our film, a burst of music, a celebration of lights, color and love. I will be cheering it on in person. It’s a very special and courageous film and I will champion it in every way I can. It is an important and exceptional film. I am proud to be a part of it.” states Nandana Sen who is very upbeat about Rang Rasiya.
Rang Rasiya has been in the news for it’s nude and intimate scenes and Ketan Mehta had to face a lot of music for the same from the Central Board of Film Certification. According to the director, Rang Rasiya focuses on art and freedom, not sex and nudity.
Presented by Jayantilal Gada, Rang Rasiya is directed by Ketan Mehta, produced by Deepa Sahi and Anand Mahendroo.
Here’s wishing team Rang Rasiya all the best for their release.
