Rajinikanth has finally made it very clear that no one can dare mess up with him as the Madras High Court has blocked the release of censor certified film Main Hoon Rajinikanth, on the ground that it would hurt the personality rights of Rajinikanth.
Submitting that the film has scenes of immoral nature, the actor filed a suit seeking Rs 25 lacs as damages and an application seeking to restrain the company from using his name in any manner whatsoever amounting to infringement of copyright.
The Madras High Court, issued a permanent stay on the film’s release, after Rajinikanth, identifying himself as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, moved the court saying his name and image had been used by Mumbai-based Varsha Productions for the movie.
The superstar stated that associating his personality with such a feature film of immoral and promiscuous nature would damage his reputation and goodwill among the public.
Varsha Productions recently released web articles and posters and various press releases and video releases about Main Hoon Rajinikanth in which it has exploited the superhero image portrayed by Rajinikanth in various movies for its benefit
Rajinikanth submitted that in order to make undue commercial gain, the film producer used his name in the title and promoted the movie as his biopic.
Even assuming that the film is not a biopic of actor Rajinikanth, since the name in the title is identifiable only with the actor, who happens to be a celebrity, and not with any other person, the producer is not entitled to use the name without Rajinikanth’s permission, particularly when he had chosen to advertise the movie with a title Hot Kavita Radheshyam As Sex Worker For Rajinikanth.
We hope once the film release it’s worth all the controversies that it has crated and does not end up just like any other film.
