Writer-director Milap Zaveri is synonymous with comedy and hilarious punch lines though he has done some grim stuff too. But seems that his short film, Raakh, is about to change that.
A seedha-saadha looking man (Vir Das) has held a man captive (Shaad Randhava) to seek revenge for killing his wife. The captive is brutally injured with blood oozing out of his entire body. What is his fate? How will the revenge be sought? This is what forms the crux of the story.
A tight script, solid dialogues and 3 characters – this is precisely what Raakh has! Right from the first scene to the last, you will be engrossed. I can’t stop raving about the dialogues since they are so impactful. Vir Das, who is known for his comedy, surprises us with his grim side. Shaad’s performance is excellent. While he pleads for mercy, you are reminded of the heinous crime he did. Richa Chadda, who is only seen in a montage, is good too since it’s her eyes that do all the talking. Lastly, the Captain of the ship, Milap Zaveri! Ignoring the continuity jerks, I must say that Milap has done a remarkable job. He has maintained the pace of film and has given the viewers a lot of nail-biting moments.
Once the movie ends, Shaad’s character and the revenge that was sought will keep on lingering in your mind!
Raakh officially releases on YouTube on 7th November. It’s a must-must-watch… but not for the faint-hearted!
