Proved! CBFC Learnt Nothing From The Udta Punjab Facade

Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab was released on June 17 amidst a massive controversy involving the Censor Board. The film is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap.

Now, the Gangs of Wasseypur director has found himself in a tight spot again. His upcoming flick, Haramkhor, which deals with a romantic relationship between a teacher and a teenage student, has already run into Censor trouble.

Pahlaj Nihalani-led Censor Board has refused to certify the Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer on the grounds that ‘it shows the education department in bad light.’ It has also stated that the illicit relationship between a teacher and a young student is not acceptable in Indian society.

According to a New Indian Express report, the board has also raised objection over vulgar dialogues spoken by the students, their body gestures and bold scenes in Haramkhor. The makers are now planning to approach the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). This definitely proves that the CBFC learnt nothing from the whole controversy over Udta Punjab. Seriously, these people need some classes on censorship!

Helmed by Shlok Sharma, Haramkhor is being co-produced by Anurag Kashyap. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also won the Best Actor award for the film at the New York Indian Film Festival.
