Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Music Review

Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan are back together on screen after 16 years with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The movie also stars Sonam Kapoor in the lead role and is all set to hit the screens on 12th Nov. Music has always been a highlight in Sooraj Barjatya movies, so let’s find out if the songs of PRDP composed by Himesh Reshammiya are impressive or not…

It’s a Sooraj Barjatya movie, so there has to be a song dedicated to the ooparwala. So, here comes the first track, Prem Leela. The lyrics of the song say ‘Ram-Siya ki dekho niraali hai… Prem Leela.. Prem Leela…’ Thus, Ram Leela has been changed to Prem Leela and the song wonderfully explains the love story of Rama and Seeta. The music is high on tempo but has a subtlety to it. Aman Trikha and Vineet Singh’s vocals suit the song. Would like to point out that Irshad Kamil’s lyrics are commendable.

Next, go full on desi with the title track of the movie. One of the best songs in the album, it takes us back to those days when title songs were so important and had to be the most catchy number of the album. The music is amazing and will make you nostalgic as it has that ‘90s feel to it. Palak Muchhal has sung the track fabulously. Her voice is something that stands out in this melodious but foot-tapping number. Though we are talking about the audio here, we would like to say that Sonam’s thumkas in the video of the song complement its audio.

Next in line is the song Jalte Diye. The track is beautifully composed and the lyrics are heart-touching. We can call this number the love anthem of the year. There is a sense of maturity in this number which impresses us. The lyrics also explain the storyline of the film. Voices of Harshdeep Kaur, Shabab Sabri, Vineet Singh and Anweshaa are top-notch in the track.

The next track will surely surprise you. Quite unlike the songs you hear nowadays, the song is reminiscent of the songs of the 90s, wherein someone is excitedly anticipating meeting their loved one.  Titled Aaj Unse Milna Hai, the song showcases the excitement of a guy when he is going to meet a girl for the first time. We just love the line ‘Thodi mathri-vathri lete chalein, Thodi chakli-chevda lete chalein, Kuch teekha-veekha lete chalein, Kuch khatta-meetha lete chalein’. This track, sung by Shaan, will make you fall in love with it.

Jab Tum Chaho is the next song in the album. It’s a full-on 90s number and the lyrics explain a naughty fight between two lovers. Don’t be surprised if you feel compelled to get up and dance, listening to this song. Mohammed Irfan and Darshan Raval have sung the song wonderfully, but it’s Palak Muchhal’s voice which steals the show.

Don’t forget it’s a Sooraj Barjatya film. The spate of songs won’t end anytime soon. So, brace yourself for some more entertaining tracks.

Next in queue is Halo Re. It’s a nice number with foot-tapping beats, but then the previous songs were so amazing that this one disappoints a bit. However, it is not at all a bad number. Aman Trikha’s voice saves the track from making it monotonous.

Titled as Tod Tadaiyya, the next track is an entertaining number which has an element of fun as well as naughty romance. We just love the ‘Ouch’es in the lyrics. Neeraj Sridhar and Neeti Mohan’s voices are fantastic in the track, but we really miss Palak Muchhal’s voice in this number.

Bachpan Kahan, the next song in the album, is a simple soulful number which brilliantly explains childhood when there were no big tensions in life. The music is nice and the lyrics will surely remind you of your childhood. Himesh Reshammiya exercises his vocals for this number and does complete justice to the song. Hats off to Irshad Kamil for the lyrics that have the potential to help everyone revisit their childhood.

The next song in the album is Murli Ki Taanon Si, a short number of just one-and-a-half minute. It can be called as an instrumental as there are hardly any lyrics in it. Shaan sings those few lines wonderfully. This track offers nothing great or unique, but we guess it’s a situation-based sad song.

And finally, the album ends with the track Aaj Unse Kehna Hai. The music of the song is same like the song Aaj Unse Milna Hai. This time the song explains the situation of a girl when she is all set to meet a guy. And then the track ends with the lyrics and beats of title track. Shaan, Palak Muchhal and Aishwarya Majumdar’s voices are super impressive in this track.

With 10 songs in the album, Himesh Reshammiya successfully keeps us hooked throughout. Not even a single number will bore you. We won’t be surprised if Himesh receives all the best music director awards next year.
